COURSE INFO:
A lap is about 9 miles. Fast guys will turn 45- 50 minute laps. You start on top and get a quick warm up before bombing down the "Boneyard". It will get interesting real fast. This course will have a little of everything, including some new surprises that will be unveiled at RIM. The course will include the Tall Oaks, River Forks loop, and a small taste of the South Thompson.
The "River Rowdies" aid station/party zone will be located at the start/finish of the River Forks loop and will keep the mood festive for riders and will be a great place for the locals to watch the action. ERTA will be manning the concession stand and have some tasty grub planned for the weekend.
MISC. INFO:
The facilities at Camp Grand River are tailor made for an event like this-- with the bunk-houses, dining hall with concessions, and almost 20 miles of trail on the 2000 acre park property, Crowder has all the "bells and whistles" that are perfect for a multi-hour event. The Crowder "Crank-N-Cruise" has been one of the favorite race venues for Midwest mountain bike racers for almost 15 years. With the flowing single track. big ring contours, and just enough climbing to satisfy the "billygoats", every lap will leave riders with a smile on their face.
Primitive camping at the race venue will be available starting Friday night. Camp Grand River offers a large area of green space for tents and team pit areas. Please, no campfires! We will provide a communal campfire for the group. Campers need to be self sufficient as there are no water, electricity, or sewage hook ups available. Crowder does offer a campground with full facilities. It is located at least a mile from the race venue and fills up quickly on weekends.
Water: Your best bet is always to bring your own water. But in the event that you don't, we will have water available on site.
The Race will start with a Le-Mans style run. Yup, the first member of each team will HAVE to do a short run before they hop on their bikes.
Please make a special effort to follow speed limits and park rules. Crowder will have two rangers in the park on Friday and Saturday to help ensure your safety.
In the event of inclement weather, please check the website before traveling to ensure that this event is still on. We will have word up on Thursday.
A pancake breakfast will be available Saturday morning and ERTA (Earthriders Trails Association) will be selling concessions as a fundraider for local trailbuilding efforts.
KEEP CHECKING BACK FOR UPDATES AND UPCOMING ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT PLANNED FOR RIM WEEKEND! HOW CAN PAIN FEEL SO GOOD?
